Weekend in Poznań JUL 22-24

This weekend, lovers of good sounds can go to the Edison Festival, during which well-known artists from the Polish music scene will perform. It is also worth visiting Rusałka, where Jedzielnia will be taking place, as well as the area around Lake Malta, where it will be fun and colourful thanks to the Soap Bubbles Festival and Kolor Fest. There will be something for everyone.

FRIDAY, 22 JULY

Edison Festival 2022

The Edison Festival will take place on Friday and Saturday in the picturesque scenery of Lake Kierskie. On the first day, Kaśka Sochacka, Grzegorz Hyży, Mrozu, Vito Bambino, LemON, Kroki, Jagoda Kret, Martin Lange will perform, while on the next day the stage will feature: Kalush Orchestra, Daria Zawiałow, Karaś/Rogucki, LUNA, Lordofon, Rubens, Zalia, Rat Kru. During the two days of the festival, it will be possible not only to listen to music, but also to taste delicious food and take part in activities developing creativity.

Concert by Agata Karczewska

On Friday, Agata Karczewska – a Warsaw-based singer-songwriter who creates music with an edge between American folk and country – will be heard at Wolności Square. Her debut album „I'm not good at having fun” was released in 2019. The disc was nominated for a Fryderyk Award in the „Blues Album of the Year” category. The artist also took part in the series „Estrada w sieci: DUETY”, for which she created the song „No way to say goodbye” together with John Porter.

Daði Freyr – concert

Daði Freyr is an Icelandic singer, songwriter and producer. In 2020, he took part in the national qualifiers for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song „Think about things”. A pandemic thwarted plans and the event was cancelled. Freyr was again selected to represent the country at Eurovision in 2021, this time with the song „10 Years”. The artist will play in Poznań on Saturday.

João De Sousa in the Szeląg Garden

João de Sousa, a Portuguese singer, guitarist and composer, will perform as part of the next instalment of 'Solo na Szeląg'. He has been living and working in Poland since 2006. His roots strongly influence the music he creates and performs, although he is also fascinated by other genres - jazz, world music or alternative music. The artist has three original albums to his credit and has collaborated with, among others, Andrzej Smolik, the band Mikromusic or Ariel Ramirez.

Raz Dwa Trzy on Wilda Beach

30 years have passed since three young men decided to form a band in Zielona Góra. Since then, they have been performing on stage non-stop and successfully combining rock sounds and poetry. On the occasion of the anniversary, it will be possible to hear the greatest hits of the group Raz Dwa Trzy in Poznań once again this year.

Summer at Łazarz

This weekend there will be more attractions at the Łazarz Market as part of the „Łazarskie Summer”. On Friday, creative colouring books await the youngest, and there will also be another round of crochet workshops for all those who wish to participate. During the concert Saturday, the band Azucar will perform, there will be a dance party with dance workshops, as well as a PRL-era fair and a fashion show. The weekend will conclude with two performances on Theatre Sunday.

By tram through South Asia

Participants in the Summer at Madalina will embark on a journey to South Asia over the weekend, with India as a stop. The programme includes Asian styling, workshops on making your own jewellery and spice paintings, a meeting with traveller Dawid Tomalak and a talk on India's multiculturalism, a knowledge quiz on Asia with prizes, a story about Tibetan bowls and gongs combined with relaxation, and much more.

Open-air cinema in Smochowice

Summer with Estrada

Plenty of attractions await Poznan residents as part of the "Summer with Estrada". On Friday afternoon, "Balticarium" art and education workshops will be held at Przystań Kiekrz, led by Natalia Uryniuk, an illustrator from Gdańsk, and followed by a performance by Finnish singer Paula Wolski and her band Miód. At the same time, a performance by the Wariate Theatre "Vikings from North Street" will be shown at Piątkowo.

Sitek - concert

On Friday, Sitek will play a concert as part of the summer series of Na Tarasie events. The Wrocław-based artist began his adventure with music in 2003. He released his debut album „Big Dreams” in late 2016. The rapper has collaborated with many artists, including donGuralesko, Donatan and Cleo, Chada, Quebonafide, White House. Before Sitek, Hincu will perform as a support act, and DJ Soina will rock the party after the concert.

Poznan tenements

The PoPoznan.pl group of guides invites you to a walk around the downtown tenements on Saturday. During the walk, participants will be able to find out where the famous Bismarck-Tunnel restaurant was located and where the oldest operating lift in Poland is located, as well as who guards the extremely valuable old prints of Mikołaj Kopernik and Józef Strusia.

Open monument

There are many places in Poznań that remain inaccessible to the public on a daily basis. One of them is the sewage pumping station in Garbary. This is a building with an extraordinary history, hiding many secrets within its walls. On Saturday, eager visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the history of both the building itself and the former waterfront industrial and port district in various forms - the organisers propose walks, presentations and guided tours to show the monument from its most interesting side.

Jedzielnia by the Rusałka

Walking the Trail 

A hike along the Route of Industrial and Technological Heritage will take place on Saturday. Walkers will discover traces of both great factory complexes and modest factories, many of which operated in the courtyards of old town houses. They will also learn about the achievements of local industrialists, representatives of the Polish, German and Jewish communities. The more and less well-known spaces of old Poznań will be seen from an unusual, often forgotten perspective.

Holidays with the Animation Theatre

This weekend, as part of the "Holidays with the Animation Theatre by the Rusałka Lake" event, you will be able to see the play "Misja Poznań – gdzie są koziołki?". The performance tells the story of a pair of detectives - Dora Dynks and Waldemar Wihajster - who receive a new assignment. This time it is an exceptionally serious mission - the famous goats have been abducted from the Poznań City Hall. The mysterious kidnapper moves around the city, effectively deceiving the detectives who trample on him and the audience, who are involved in the secret investigation from the very beginning. Will the koziołki thief finally be caught?

Marta Podulka at Wilda Beach

On Saturday evening, a concert in honour of Adele's work will take place at Wilda Beach. The British artist's hits will be performed in specially prepared arrangements by Marta Podulka - a singer endowed with an exceptional voice and stage charisma. The singer is a graduate of the Poznań Academy of Music and winner of 3rd place in the fourth edition of the Mam Talent programme. Her singles "Nieodkryty Ląd", "Mocna" and "Nie przeszkadzać" reached the top of the radio charts.

Portrayal of Guilt - concert

On Saturday, Portrayal of Guilt will perform in Poznań as part of a tour promoting their latest album „Christfucker”. This is the band's second album, which was released last year. The album presents deep, dark sounds, evoking anxiety and piercing terror in the listener. The American hardcore-punk band will be supported by House of Evil.

Smutne Piosenki Concert

Smutne Piosenki is a Poznań-based band founded by Paulina Frąckowiak - bassist and lyricist, whose songs with Polish lyrics are described as „new jazz sung poetry”. The band is co-founded by Iza Polit, Michał Ruksza and Jakub Szwarc. The formation has a debut album "Dziki ogród", released in 2018, and a collaboration with the late Jacek "Budyń" Szymkiewicz - singer and leader of the bands Pogodno and Babu Król - which resulted in their joint album "Nowa Fala Polskiego Dansingu". During Saturday's concert, the musicians will present as yet unpublished material.

Dwa Sławy and Rau Performance - concert

As part of „Lato w Plenerze 2022”, the Łódź-based rap duo Dwa Sławy will perform on the stage of the Nocny Targ Towarzyski on Saturday. It is made up of: Jarosław "Astek" Steciuk and Radosław "Rado Radosny" Średziński. They will also be joined by Rau Performance, or Tomasz Rałowski. He is one of the most distinctive producers and rappers in Poland.

Readings are back

The „Reading 6 senses” workshop for children aged 6-10 and their parents returns to the Raczyński Library. During the workshop, participants will learn about their senses. They will look at, listen to, touch and find out what good taste is and how the world is perceived in so many ways. There will also be an opportunity to think about how to support the senses and help people with disabilities. The workshop will be accompanied by demonstrations, fun and good books.

Bazar Wyspiańskiego 26

Bazar Wyspiańskiego 26 is a social initiative created thanks to the Prusiecki Family Foundation, which supports the Municipal Family Assistance Centre in Łazarz in Poznań, as well as hospices, schools and care homes neighbouring the bazaar's premises. The support mechanism involves the foundation donating funds from the rental of stalls to social and charitable causes. More than 30 exhibitors will be at Saturday's Bazaar, there will be woodburning workshops, a vinyl and book zone and a dog buffet. Also on the programme are children's animations with international volunteers, a performance by the Open Action Space Theatre, a DJ set by Tui Teras and DJ Wiki. During the event, Sergiusz Myszograj will present his poetry with musical accompaniment by Alina Kubik.

Dances from all over the world

As part of the „Dances from all over the world” series, participants in the Sunday workshops will learn about dances from the Middle East, mainly from Israel. It promises to be great fun combined with activity and learning about the traditions of another country.

Soap Bubble Festival over Malta

A real treat awaits the youngest inhabitants of Poznań on Sunday at Malta. A Soap Bubbles Festival will be held there. The organisers will make sure that there will be plenty of bubble games, bubble blowing accessories, inflatable castles, colourful sweets and competitions with prizes. A special guest will be Kittie the Cat - the hero of a series of children's books by Anita Głowińska - who will be happy to dance, cuddle and take souvenir photos in her little room.

Art workshops in Freedom Square

An art workshop for children and their parents will be held on Sunday morning as part of the „See you at Freedom Square” summer event. Their aim is to develop sensitivity to the different appearance, culture, views or way of life of people from other, often distant countries. During the workshop, participants will learn about the music and dances characteristic of a particular country or ethnic group, their culture and art. Musical wygibasy in the Wilda

Bianca Del Rio - concert

Bianca Del Rio, also known as Roy Haylock, is one of the most popular drag queens in the world. The artist won the sixth season of the US reality show RuPaul's Drag Race. She recently completed her fourth global stand-up tour, „It's Jester Joke”. At the weekend, she will perform in Poznań as part of her next project „Unsanitised Tour”. Saturday's concert has already sold out, but there will still be a chance to see the artist live on Sunday.
